How Web Search Works
Your AI employee uses SearXNG, a self-hosted metasearch engine, to search the web. SearXNG aggregates results from multiple search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and others) without exposing your queries to any of them directly. Because it runs on your dedicated server, there are no rate limits, no tracking, and no personalized filter bubbles. You get raw, unbiased search results with complete privacy.
Included — no setup needed. SearXNG runs self-hosted on your dedicated Sarudo server. There is no API key to provision, no developer account to sign up for, and no monthly search quota. Web search is part of the Sarudo platform itself.
Your search queries never touch Google, Bing, or any other search engine directly — they always go through the metasearch proxy, so the upstream engines cannot tie queries back to you.
Searching the Web
To search the web, simply ask your AI employee to look something up. You can be general ("what's the latest news on AI regulation?") or specific ("find the SEC filing for TechCorp's Q4 2025 earnings"). The AI formulates an effective search query, retrieves results, and presents the most relevant findings in a clear summary. It includes source URLs so you can verify information directly.

Search Capabilities
The search system supports several types of searches. General web search returns articles, websites, and pages. News search focuses on recent news articles and press releases. Academic search looks through scholarly publications. You can specify the type of search you want or let the AI choose the most appropriate one based on your query. The AI can also perform multiple searches in sequence to build a comprehensive picture of a topic. For finding images, Sarudo uses a dedicated image search tool (Unsplash for photos, Giphy for animated GIFs) rather than the SearXNG web search — see the Image Search article for details.
No Rate Limits
Because SearXNG is self-hosted, there are no API rate limits or monthly query caps. Your AI employee can perform as many searches as needed without hitting throttling limits that plague other tools. This is particularly valuable for research-heavy tasks like competitive analysis, market research, and due diligence where dozens of searches may be needed to build a comprehensive report.
